NCDS is a registered charitable Society dedicated to the wholesome development of the poor.
Dr. (Mrs.) M. V. Kallimel formed NCDS because of the burden that was placed on her heart for the marginalized people in rural and tribal India. NCDS is registered as a social service organization to work for their development has been a TORCH BEARER LEADING FROM DARKNESS TO LIGHT.
AIMS: The goal of NCDS is to facilitate need-based activities which will improve quality of life and lead to self-sufficiency within the community. It also partners with other organizations who work for similar aims and objectives. Their humanitarian service will deliver genuine love and care while developing moral values and dignity among these underprivileged groups of people.
NCDS with a team of dedicated volunteers is committed to implementing need based and people oriented programs in collaboration with partners working at the grass root level.
Methodology: The programs are designed specifically to enable the community to gain self-reliance. The local community is very much part of the process which involves them in the process of planning and implementation of the programs.
WHAT NCDS DOES:
• Establish schools and orphanages
• Engage in rural development activities
• Promote eco-friendly agricultural activities
• Promote comprehensive health care programs
• Undertake socio economic development projects.
• Organize/establish relief and rehabilitation projects.
• Conduct various vocational training and self-employment activities.
• Organize and motivate men and women from weaker sections and help them develop small-scale enterprises.
WHAT NCDS HAS DONE SO FAR:
• AIDS awareness programs were conducted in many parts of India.
• Two complete villages in Gujarart state have been adopted and 112 houses were built for the people that had lost their homes in the earthquake that hit Gujarat in 2001.
• Child Development Program – About 400 children are being provided Education, Socio Economical, Spiritual and Physical development in our day care centers in Bastar (Chattisgarh State) and Semiliguda (Orissa State) with an aim to share the love of Christ and lead them in the way of God.
• Water tanks were distributed in a remote village of Orissa
• Nutritious food was provided under village Child Development Scheme.
• Health projects were carried out in the tribal villages of Orissa.
• Relief work were done during the Tsunami
- 750 families were given food
- 40 families were blessed with 10 fiber boats, 10 outboard engines and several types of nets.
- 10 families were identified who had lost their homes and homes were built for them
• Tailoring project for women from the weaker section are being conducted at Chattarpur Pahari in New Delhi, Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh and Vishakapattnam in A.P. where 10-15 women are given training in stitching and cutting by providing them tailoring machines. This will help them to become self sustaining
• Seminars on the prevention and cure of leprosy were conducted in many places during the last years.
