What Will You Do?
By Rev. Dr. Paul Learning
This year I was privileged to go to India for the third time, and it was an emotional experience. I am more in awe…and more humbled by the sacrifices of India’s believers than I can even express. All I can tell you is that the book of Acts is still being written every day in India. As Jesus told the disciples of John the Baptist,
“Go tell him what you hear and see”—
The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, THE DEAD ARE RAISED UP, and the poor have the gospel preached to them (Matthew 11:5).
I can tell you for a fact that Indian believers are literally raising the dead and healing lepers and the blind because of their powerful faith in God. If it’s in the Bible, they believe it…and practice it. In fact, they don’t understand why every Christian wouldn’t be doing it!
I encourage you to be a part of what God is doing in India. Through Global Evangelical Team, we’re helping to build churches all over one of the neediest nations in the world, and also establishing and supporting children’s homes for orphans—youngsters who will become tomorrow’s church leaders in all of Asia.
There is so much you can do for missions that will revolutionize your life and your Christian living…for so little. And if you catch the fire, we can arrange for you to visit India personally and see the 21st century church in action, even face the opposition and persecution. Constructing a church costs about $7,000, and a top-notch, state-of-the-art orphanage about $35,000. But gifts of any amount make a difference and accomplish great things.
What will you do?
In addition to personal gifts, there are many ways to raise funds for the mission projects in India. I know one man who ran the Boston Marathon and asked people to pledge so much per mile to help support our work in India. You may not be a runner, but you can find other creative ways to involve others in raising funds for the worthy causes in India.
We can’t all go to India as missionaries, but we can be an important part of the ministry there through our prayers and financial commitment. I have only one thing to ask of you—pray and ask God what He would have you do about providing funds to support the mission projects in India…then whatsoever he saith to you, do it (John 2:5).
